Rory Martin has been working in the outdoor industry for 30 years. having gained substantial water sports, marketing and managerial experience. He is ideally placed to develop quality activity packages & events that surpass your expectation. With high level coaching qualifications in many different sports. You can rest assured that the business operates to the highest safety standards.
Director
Christine Martin is in charge of all administration, bookings and finances at SLAC. As a keen wild swimmer, metal detector and walker, she if often found looking for treasure in a remote ploughed field or taking a dip with the Bathing Belles in Strangford Lough.
Instructors & Guides
Dave Brown
Dave Brown is a keen kayaker and paddle boarder. When not touring the islands, he can be found sup surfing on the North coast, skiing in the alps or working on a top secret tech project. A former teacher who is able to calm even the most nervous of paddlers.
Patrick Cooper
Patrick Cooper is a multi sports instructor specialising in water sports. As a local sailing, paddle boarding & kayaking instructor, his knowledge of the area is great. A talented musician.
Amy Lyons
Amy Lyons is our mutli-sports leader & summer scheme leader. A true allrounder, she can turn her hand to anything. A great henna artist, she is great with kids of all ages.
Gareth Lyons
Gareth Lyons is a water sports instructor with a need for speed. An E Foiler, Powerboat Driver and Sup Instructor. As a talented long distance runner he’s often found pounding the pavements a long way from home.
Safety, Equipment, and Professional Instruction
Safety is a priority for all activities delivered by Strangford Lough Activity Centre. All instructors hold relevant qualifications and first aid training, and activities are delivered in line with recognised industry standards.
Participants are provided with all necessary equipment, including buoyancy aids, helmets, and specialist outdoor gear where required. Equipment is regularly checked and maintained to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
Clear safety briefings are given before each session, and instructors provide ongoing supervision to ensure activities are conducted safely and responsibly.
Strangford Lough and the Local Environment
Strangford Lough is one of Northern Ireland’s most important natural landscapes and is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Marine Nature Reserve, and a site of scientific importance. The lough supports a wide range of wildlife and habitats, making it a unique setting for outdoor and water sports activities.
Activities delivered by Strangford Lough Activity Centre encourage respect for the environment and awareness of the natural surroundings. Environmental considerations are incorporated into sessions wherever appropriate, helping participants develop a greater understanding of the landscape they are using.
