Paddle Boarding Skills Course (SUP)

Learn to SUP. We regularly run a beginners / improvers  Paddle Boarding skills course on Strangford Lough. It’s the ideal way to meet like minded people, improve your skill level, test our new – top of the range equipment and improve confidence to explore on your own.

Learn to Paddle Board in the amazing scenery of Strangford Lough. It’s picturesque beauty, amazing wildlife and flat waters make it an awesome place to paddle board. With many wonderful Drumlin Islands offering shelter, castles, lightships and monastic sites to discover and tides to play in, it has all the features required to ensure a fantastic paddle boarding venue.

Beginners Course

Our beginners Paddle Board Skills Course runs over a 4 week period during summer months – (2 hours per week). During Autumn, Spring and Winter we offer courses at weekends. The beginners course will take you from a complete beginner to having the confidence to paddle with a small group of friends safely.

Our Skills courses covers paddle strokes, technique, journeying, rescues, safety considerations  and theory (tides / weather systems etc). Times may vary depending on time of year and daylight hours. Online Booking now available. However if the times don’t suit, contact us and we can add you to a list for further courses.

Improvers – Ready to Tour

Our improvers Paddle Board Skills Course is a condensed 1 day course for people that have some experience of paddle boarding and want to feel more confident undertaking journeys in small groups.

Having completed this course students should feel that they are ready to plan their own adventures and have new skills to improve their time on the water.

By the end of this course paddlers should be able to

  • Plan & choose a Route taking into account weather, flow, tide, access, 3rd parties, exit options,
  • Select and bring the correct personal & group equipment.
  • Improve their paddle stroke, tracking and efficiency.
  • Can use a variety of strokes to maintain tracking and manoeuverability on the water.
  • Can navigate obstacles and third parties afloat taking into account, flow, weather and any other elements.
  •  Have planned, completed and experienced a tour.

  • Wetsuit Boots / Water shoes
  • Towel
  • Sun Protection (here’s hoping!)
  • Dry Robe or warm clothes to get changed into.
