Skills Courses

Skills courses are a great way to improve your knowledge base, try out a new sport and test different kit before taking the plunge and purchasing expensive equipment. Strangford Lough Activity Centre offer a variety of skills courses in Outdoor Activities at different venues throughout Ireland.

Sea Kayaking Skills Course

We regularly run a beginners / improvers 4 week Sea Kayaking Course on Strangford Lough. The course includes paddle strokes, technique, rescues, safety considerations, trips etc. The next course runs over 4 Thursday evenings from 6-8pm. Times may vary depending on time of year and daylight hours. Online Booking now available. However if the times don’t suit, let us know and we can add you to a list for further courses.

Paddle Boarding Skills Course (SUP)

We regularly run a beginners / improvers 4 week Paddle Boarding course on Strangford Lough. Hill Walking Skills Course

Improve your Hill Walking Skills with our Mountain Leader and gain confidence to explore the outdoors at your leisure. This is a great opportunity to see the Mournes in a different light. Whilst there are no big summit’s to bag here, you will learn how to be self reliant in the hills and explore the lesser-spotted parts of the Mourne Mountains.

Meeting at Carrick Little, our Mountain Leader & tour guide will talk through equipment, clothing and introduce some map skills before starting the day’s hike. The route will take you up towards Blue Lough, Explore Percy Bysshe, onto Cove Cave before an opportunity to dip your toes in the Annalong River before returning to the car park.

  • Full Waterproofs (Jacket & Trousers)

  • Survival Bag
  • Lunch, Snacks, Water,¬†Hot Drink
  • Hat & Gloves
  • Torch
  • Face Mask / Hand Sanitiser
